Here are the reasons why your student should take the ACT over the SAT:
.) The SAT is now entirely digital. That means your student will be transferring math problems from the screen to paper and then back again. This gives many opportunities for mistakes.
.) The SAT is now adaptive. That means depending on how well your student does on the first section, he/she will receive an easier or harder section next. How is that a standardized test when students don't even take the same test???!!!!
.) SUPERSCORING! A very high percentage of colleges/universities now superscore. This means that they will take your best scores from each section from any of the tests you have taken. There are only 2 sections on the SAT (math, verbal) while there are 4 on the ACT (English, Math, Reading, and Science). This gives your student 4 chances to improve his/her superscore each time the ACT is taken, compared to only 2 for the SAT.
.) The ACT has more teachable content.
.) Your student's ACT score can improve drastically just by understanding the timing and using a pacing watch (which I include with every class). The SAT is not nearly as time sensitive. That's one more advantage your child will have once he/she is taught correct timing on the ACT.
